Online Games Are Evil

CityVille Mission - Online Games Are Evil

CityVille Mission - Online games are evil and many parents agree. On the other hand you would expect that most kids disagree. Drinking a bottle of wine each day is bad but drinking a glass each week can have benefits. The same with online games, a few hours a week can actually be beneficial.

So what would be these benefits?

Learning a profession. Yes there are plenty of games that teach you how to do a job. Simulators are a great example. Learning the concepts of flying and understanding how to control an aircraft are great.

Gaining knowledge. These days there are many trivia games out there. You can learn anything from world history to music, science, sports and even potpourri. Some more useful them others but surely you have seen people been asked about events and not have a clue.

Physical skill. You only need to think about the wii games to understand that there are very useful games to help us to get in shape. But even learning complex moves on a game console can help, just imagine how much finger excursive you have playing Tekken for example and with the new releases of wii’s and kinect systems our living rooms are becoming our gyms.

Logic. Learning logic is not easy and games like fiver or Factory balls are great to develop your logical thinking. If you haven’t heard of these games why not play checkers or reversi online.

Problem solving is another one you can learn from games. Some of the parents will definitely know “Bert in pigeon trouble” Probably better know are the math games which teach kids additions and subtractions.

Strategy. Surely you cannot learn strategy I hear you think but you actually can. There many strategy games online and some really big ones too. StartCraft and world of WarCraft for example but also Sid Meier’s Civilisation all involve strategies. Some elements like time management anticipation and preparedness, relation building and money management are just a few things you can learn. Social interaction Some games require you to interact with other players, converse with them and make agreements. You will undoubtedly learn how to recognise people you can trust and who will cheat you and it’s all in a safe environment.

To sum it up. Online games are often blamed for violence in kids and a barrier to a better life. This is far from the truth as long as you play the right games with moderation. If your kids or teenagers struggle with math or have problems working out problems some games can be brilliant. Just don’t by senseless violence and crime games.
